GOT ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU APPLY?
HOW DO THE COURSES WORK?

Each level combines 40% online learning modules (completed through our student portal) and 60% practical, in-person dog handling sessions located on a 10 acre farm in the Waitakere Ranges 25 minutes from Auckland CBD. This structure ensures you gain both theory and the hands-on understanding required to succeed in this industry.

HOW LONG DOES EACH QUALIFICATION TAKE?

Each level (Junior, Intermediate, Senior) takes around 4 weeks to complete, with approximately 50 total learning hours each. Completing all three levels (Senior Qualification) equals 150 hours of training.

DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH DOGS TO ENROL?

No – the Junior Handler course is designed for beginners and all 3 levels (Junior, Intermediate, Senior) cover the Junior level course teachings. All you need is a passion for working with dogs and a willingness to learn.

WHAT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE AFTER GRADUATION?
  • Junior graduates are ready to start as dog kennel or dog boarding workers.

  • Intermediate graduates step into full-time leadership roles within professional dog handling companies such as off-lead pack walking.

  • Senior graduates are fully equipped to be independent professional dog handlers, teach/supervise other handlers.

WHERE ARE THE IN PERSON TRAINING SESSIONS HELD?

Practical sessions are run on a private farm in the Waitakere Ranges 25 minutes away from Auckland CBD. Ensuring safe off-lead environments for our students.

CAN I WORK WHILE I STUDY?

Yes — part time is recommended. Our model is designed to require 12-20 hours a week, allowing you to complete online modules around your schedule while attending practical sessions on set training days.
